The product is a paper-tape music box that features arrangements of popular songs from the Kirby series that has been loved by fans around the world throughout its 25-year long history. It is a TOM original product and will be sold through TOM’s e-commerce website, department stores, and other retailers.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kirby series, a paper-tape music box that features arrangements of popular songs from the series will be released!

Ever since the first Kirby game was released in 1992 for the Game Boy, the series has continued to produce hits and remains a popular series in the hearts of fans around the world over its 25-year long history. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kirby series, TOM has decided to produce a paper-tape music box that features arrangements of popular songs selected from various game titles.

The Kirby 25th Anniversary Pupupu Paper-Tape Music Box will be manufactured by paper tunes, a paper-tape music box manufacturer that was selected as one of the winners of the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival held by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. paper tunes uses paper-tape music boxes as a form of “media” that simultaneously produces visuals and sound to present a wide variety of special moments. In addition to manufacturing paper-tape music boxes, it also holds workshops where participants can experience a sense of nostalgia and relaxation through paper-tape music boxes or be encouraged to start something new.

Adorable paper-tape score designs that are perfect for playing or observing

The accompanying paper-tape scores feature special designs from the titles they are based on. As fans play each score through the music box, they will have the chance to watch Kirby and friends make their way through different stages.
As developmental data and game data have been used to create the special designs, the paper-tape scores will surely restore the fondest memories that fans have of the Kirby games.
Also, the standard round holes in each paper-tape score have been replaced with stars from the world of Kirby.

Kirby is an action game series revolving around Kirby, the hero, who inhales enemies to copy their abilities and inflates himself to soar through the skies. Ever since the first Kirby game was released in 1992 for the Game Boy, the series has continued to produce hits and remains as a popular series in the hearts of fans around the world. A Kirby Cafe was opened for a limited time in 2016, and an orchestral concert was held in the spring and summer of 2017. This year, the series is celebrating its 25th anniversary through various fascinating events, and Kirby is growing even bigger. A new game titled “Kirby Star Allies” is scheduled to be released on the Nintendo Switch in spring 2018.
